Tom Liodice of The Tiger Track was at the Sound Tigers game today and has just scooped the latest news before it hits any other source: The Islanders have called up forward Blake Comeau.
Per Tom’s blog:
Comeau then goes to his locker stall and begins to pack his things, and I say to Mike, “Coms going somewhere?” So we decided to find out. And yes, indeed straight from Comeau’s mouth, the Islanders have called him up, most likely to replace Chris Simon’s impending void.
Hopefully Comeau can come in and spark something on the fourth line, with Jackman still called up – the line still has some toughness, but Park and Comeau bring speed. Jackman should be able to give both of those guys some room, so it will be interesting to see what he can do. Comeau had no points in the 3 games he was up with the Islanders last season.
It still remains to be seen what will happen to Simon, my guess is that the NHL will make a decision sometime in the next day or so.
