Witt Out 2-4 Weeks!

Witt InjurySo I just happened to pop over to the Islanders website, only to be extremely disappointed. Brendan Witt will be out the next 2-4 weeks with a sprained MCL.

After a heavy collision in the first period of Tuesday’s 4-3 win over Philadelphia, Brendan Witt will be out 2-4 weeks with a sprained MCL. Witt missed four games earlier this season and only one all of last season.

The Islanders will skate without Witt tonight as they take on the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Air Canada Centre at 7:30 pm. With Witt out of the lineup, Aaron Johnson is expected to be back in action, having played in ten games this season.

The Islanders have finally broken out of their slumber slump and have been playing some good hockey despite an ever growing list of injured players. This latest bit is a HUGE setback as Witt is a minute munching, shot blocking, body playing, crease clearing defenseman.

Hopefully the Islanders can rally tonight against Toronto and really take it to them – it should prove to be a good game. Too bad I have to DVR it tonight, it is Valentines day you know!
