The Islanders have selected Defenseman Matt Donovan with the number 96 pick.
Steve McKeens interview with Donovan:
The USHL has a strong crop of defensemen eligible for the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, and Cedar Rapids RoughRiders defenseman Matt Donovan is one of them. The 6-foot-0, 190-pound blueliner is not as big as some others are, but the Oklahoman is among the USHL’s leaders in defensemen scoring as a rookie and leads the league in plus/minus just over halfway through 2007-08.
Donovan is a player. He has huge upside potential and if he develops he could be one of the steals of the 4th round.
He was one of the best rookie players in the USHL last season and is only a Junior in high school.
dg,
Thanks for all the scouting reports and work on your site. Just wanted to let you know that without you, everyone here would have NO CLUE who Donovan is.
I am glad to hear he is a player with a bunch of potential, the fact that he is still in High School and is as touted as he is speaks volumes.
Donovan is a GREAT talent. He’s not the biggest kid, but he’s not afraid to play the body. He was also towards the top in D scoring and I want to say 2nd in D goals.
Not often you see a kid from Oklahoma drafted.
