Islanders Invite Five Players For Tryouts

The Islanders have just announced that they have invited five players to the remainder of training camp on a try-out basis.

Dean McAmmond, Manny Legace, Anders Eriksson, Krys Kolanos and Joel Martin have all accepted invitations to Training Camp on Professional Tryouts (PTO’s).

I’m not really sure I understand why the Islanders would bring in another goaltender, but he is a veteran and can help….where as I said I am not sure. McAmmond I like for this team and I felt he could’ve contributed more here back when he was traded over from Ottawa. If I recall correctly he played pretty well for New Jersey last season.

I wonder if the timing of this is coincidental of Streit’s injury or if in fact these are the players who responded to the Islanders open call for veteran tryouts earlier this free agent period….
